Writing the West

Travis Mills is a screenwriter whose work is often rooted in the landscapes and conflicts of the American West. In addition to writing across action, thriller, and horror films, Mills is known for his ambitious “12 Westerns in 12 Months” project, an initiative dedicated to developing a dozen distinct Western screenplays in a single year, each exploring different eras, regions, and thematic angles of the genre. As co-writer of Thieves Highway (2025), Mills brings that same research-driven, ground-level authenticity to a modern western focused on cattle rustling and rural crime.
